Leading international law firm Allens has adopted Luminance’s artificial intelligence technology to assist with its contract review processes for M&A and real estate transactions.
The firm, which last year was named Australian Law Firm of the Year by legal directory Chambers, chose to deploy Luminance due to its ability to streamline the workflow of a project, seamlessly assigning documents across multiple locations, monitoring progress in real-time, and structuring the lawyer’s review.
“Allens is committed to knowing our clients and innovating to find solutions to meet their needs,” said Mark Malinas, Corporate Partner and Co-Head of Private Equity at Allens. “We are excited to be using Luminance to enhance our due diligence processes. The platform provides an instant insight into the entire data room, classifying documents, highlighting anomalies and focusing our lawyers’ attention on the areas that matter and the tasks that our clients value.”
“We are delighted to be continuing our momentum in the Asia-Pacific region and working with one of the most prestigious law firms based there,” said Emily Foges, CEO of Luminance. “Allens is truly embracing innovative legal technologies that enhance the process of due diligence, and the firm’s adoption of Luminance is testament to the power of the sophisticated machine learning technology at its core.”
Luminance applies the latest advances in artificial intelligence technology, founded as a result of close collaboration between mathematicians from Cambridge University and legal experts. The language agnostic platform reads and understands legal documents in a similar way to humans, coping with volumes and working at speeds that no human can match. The technology instantly sorts and classifies documents while highlighting possible anomalies for lawyers’ review.
Luminance launched in September 2016 and has over 75 customers in 23 countries across five continents. The company was recently awarded ‘Enterprise Startup of the Year’ at The Techies 2018.
