Luminance, the pioneer in Legal-Grade™ AI, today announced that the company is opening an office in Madrid and increasing headcount in France in response to growing demand for its AI across the EMEA region.
Hippolyte Fouque joins the company as VP of France and Spain, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the AI sector, most recently as a Commercial Director at cyber-AI pioneer, Darktrace. This latest expansion comes off the back of a $40million Series B funding round and more than 5x ARR growth in the last two years, driven in part by an increase in French and Spanish organisations adopting Luminance’s next-generation technology. Customers today include intergovernmental organisation, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), capital markets business, the European Energy Exchange (EEX), and renewable energy provider, Ventient Energy.
The announcement comes at a key time for AI investment in the region. According to a recent survey by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the number of French companies adopting AI increased by 35% between 2022 and 2023, whilst Spain experienced a 29% spike in adoption in the same period.
Eleanor Lightbody, CEO of Luminance, said: “Luminance has been a global business since day one, with our language-agnostic technology now being used by 700+ customers in 70+ countries working in 80+ languages. By having a permanent presence on-the-ground, we can directly service the growing number of businesses looking to adopt our Legal-Grade™ AI in France and Spain, as well as the wider European region. It’s an exciting time for the business.”
Hippolyte Fouque, VP of France and Spain at Luminance, added: “I’m delighted to be spearheading Luminance’s efforts across France and Spain. The need for Luminance’s AI is clear: businesses are grappling with ever-increasing volumes of data, evolving regulatory complexities and constant drives for efficiencies. Andreas Formosa, Head of Legal at Ventient Energy, commented: “Luminance is enhancing legal activity across our business with a powerful AI platform that stands out in the market. As one of the leading generators of renewable energy in Europe with a portfolio spanning Spain, France, Portugal and beyond, Luminance’s in-country presence allows us to take our partnership to the next level.”
